At a GlanceThe Center for Autism is a specialized educational program which serves the public school divisions of Gloucester County, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg/James City County, and York County. The six school divisions, each by formal resolution, have organized a joint board of control to administer and operate a variety of programs on a contractual cost sharing basis. The Center for Autism has three campuses: elementary students attend programming in our wing at Kiln Creek Elementary School in Newport News, middle school students are served at our Yorktown Middle School campus in York County, and adolescent and young adult programs are located at our Woodside Lane Campus in Newport News. Students at all campuses have an opportunity to interact and participate with peers in general education settings.
We believe that all children with autism can learn. We utilize educational strategies, evaluation, and multidisciplinary team input to develop and implement individualized educational programs that are unique to each student’s learning styles and needs. Our programs build skills and independence so our students can enjoy a high quality of life and become productive members of their community. Schedule Transportation Meals
