Question – What is the purpose of a vocational evaluation?
Answer: A vocational evaluation assists students, parents, and counselors in developing a career training plan. This can be used for academic and Career and Technical course planning, as well as describing resources and suggestions to ensure student success in training programs.
Question – Who can receive a vocational evaluation?
Answer: Vocational evaluations are available any student recommended by their school division. This primarily includes special education students and students who are interested in Career and Technical Education courses.
Question – Who uses vocational evaluations?
Answer: Teachers, guidance counselors, case managers, transition coordinators, employers, students, CTE administrators and parents.
Question – What are some of the elements of a vocational evaluation?
Answer: The elements include an initial interview, interest inventories, aptitude assessments, work preferences, learning styles, job seeking/job keeping skills questionnaire, work samples and an evaluation summary. A written vocational evaluation report is provided after the assessment has been completed.
