New Horizons Educational Foundation, Inc

The Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who have established a financial need and have demonstrated outstanding academic skills, leadership skills and service to the Career and Technical Education Center, the home high school and the local community. The Foundation Scholarship requirements include: the filing of a resume; two teacher recommendations; a recent official transcript; an essay, and forms describing achievements at CTEC.

To be eligible, students must be graduating seniors currently enrolled in any course at the Career and Technical Center at New Horizons. The Foundation awards varying amounts depending on availability each year. For the 2006-2007 Awards, the Foundation awarded nine $2000 scholarships and one $1500 scholarships.

An honorarium provides financial assistance to New Horizons Career and Technical Education Center graduates entering the workforce by defraying the cost of uniforms, equipment and reliable transportation. The Foundation honorarium criteria reflect successful workplace practices to include: productivity, attendance, technical skill attainment, special achievements, work behaviors, leadership, and teamwork. Students apply for an honorarium and their technical instructor evaluates the nomination based upon the above criteria, just as employee performance on the job is evaluated by an immediate supervisor.
