Electronics

Instructor:  Joanne Talmage
Campus:  Butler Farm (Hampton)

Electronics teaches the fundamentals of electricity, electron theory, direct current and alternating current.  People who study electronics will be equipped to help design, maintain and repair electronic equipment.  There are at least twenty different fields in which electronic technologists may work.  These fields include telecommunications, computer electronics, automotive electronics, fiber-optic electronics, satellite microwave electronics, security systems, radar systems and Internet access systems.  Electronics technologists can be found wherever electronics systems are, and that is almost everywhere!  The Electronics program is articulated with Thomas Nelson Community College.  Electronics students study mechanical ability, manual dexterity, creative thinking and abstract reasoning, mathematical skills, trouble-shooting and problem-solving, patience, and understanding diagrams/charts and technical materials.

Electronics is a two-year program

Credits:

  • Articulates for 13 college credit hours (5 Electronics I & 8 Electronics II) with Thomas Nelson Community College.
