Computer Networking Essentials students participate in the same on-line training program that is taught at college and corporate locations. Students also practice “hands on” networking skills such as cable construction, router configuration and network troubleshooting. Computer Networking students study: Fundamentals of Computers and Networking, Open System Interconnection (OSI) Model, Local Area Networks, Handheld Electrical Tools, Media Connections, Routing and Addressing, Wide Area Networks (WAN), Internet Operating System (IOS) Commands, Router Configuration, Network Security, Network Troubleshooting, Network Management, Wireless Networks, and Installing Network Operations.
Computer Networking Essentials is a one-year program. However, the course meets the sequential elective requirement.
Credits: Dual enrolled with Thomas Nelson Community College for three college credit hours. Three elective high school credits for course, one to two verified credits (must pass NOCTI Assessment or Network Plus Exam).
