Students in this program are prepared for careers in the auto collision repair field through the use of the latest technologies and state of the art equipment. The Auto Body Prep Course is designed for students who are interested in collision repair but are unable to meet the requirements of the Auto Body Course. In this class, students learn the basics of the industry to include repairing a dent, welding, sanding, repairing plastic and fiberglass, using a primer and paint gun, mixing paint and pin striping. In Auto Body Repair, each student will become familiar with the latest finishes, from single-stage to multi-stage. Selected students may be eligible for work experiences at local repair facilities. Areas of study include: Introduction to Auto Collision, Structural Analysis and Damage Repair - Fixed Glass, Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair, Structural Analysis and Damage Repair, Plastics and Adhesives, Painting and Refinishing, Mechanical and Electrical Components – Steering, Introduction to Auto Refinishing, Estimating Damage Analysis, Mechanical and Electrical Components. Throughout both Auto Body Repair and Prep, students gain daily practical experience by working on vehicles.

Credits: Three elective high school credits per academic year for both courses; one to two verified credits for Auto Body Repair (must pass NOCTI Assessment exam)
Certification: NOCTI Collision Repair and Refinishing
Prerequisites: Good attendance, and behavior
Fees:
- $85 for repair kit and club dues
- $30 for NOCTI assessment (Auto Body Repair II)
Other Requirements:This course is not recommended for students with respiratory or allergy problems. Students will be required to purchase/wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment. |
