Center for Apprenticeship and Adult TrainingThe Center for Apprenticeship and Adult Training at New Horizons Regional Education Center has a 23-year history of providing quality technical training programs in preparing adults for employment in an ever-changing job market. We provide more than 120 courses that train over 2,000 adults annually. The Center has been recognized by the state for its training program and many of the courses are articulated with the community college system. Apprenticeship Training: Authorized Apprenticeship Related Instruction provider for the Virginia Community College System and works closely with the Department Of Labor. Adult and Community Training Programs: Designed to prepare individuals for the workforce or skills needed to fulfill personal interests. The School of Practical Nursing: The School of Nursing started back in the 1950's as the "Dixie School of Nursing" and has a long, rich history of producing highly qualified, professional practical nurses. School articulates with Thomas Nelson Community College, Tidewater Community College and Norfolk State. Youth Workforce Center: Provides job training, support and follow-up services to out-of- school low income youth (18-21) facing multiple barriers to employment. The Workforce Investment Board and Youth Council contract with New Horizons to provide these services.
